The Davis House
July 24, 2004

Our home in Prairie Grove, Ark, 1923. Now is a part of the Prairie Grove Battlefield Park permanently. This photo shows the house re-built (Civil War Days) for the filming of  "The Blue & The Gray" motion picture.

What I know of the house from visiting the park is that it was one of 3 houses built by the same man and had the same style. When it was bought and moved to the park, it was the one in best shape. The park ranger told me about the location of the house before moving and I visited the area. He confirmed one thing that Marie Davis Anderson recalled: That the house had been on an orchard, but the orchard was now gone.

When Marie and her sister visited it a few years back, the park rangers allowed them to go inside and upstairs. There they found where she had carved her initials.
