Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Sanders and David
Alexander Edmiston Stephen Sanders third child was Elizabeth Ann Sanders. Elizabeth, called by the name Betty, was born April 5, 1844, in Tennessee. Betty was 12 years old when Stephen moved the family to Cane Hill, Arkansas. Like most of Stephens younger kids, she probably received her education at the Cane Hill School House, still standing today. Betty married David Alexander Edmiston on August 8, 1859 in Washington County, Arkansas. David was born February 9, 1840. Betty and David had six daughters and four sons from this marriage: Mary, Silas, Thomas, Elizabeth, James, John, Hattie, Mattie, Duffa, and Dorah. Like her brother Levi, Betty married into a prominent family name. The Edmiston name is found in the story of the Battle of Prairie Grove, and many Edmistons rest at Prairie Grove Cemetery. Betty died on April 5, 1903 in Arkansas or Texas. David died on April 19, 1912, possibly in Texas.
