Charles F. Scribner

Text submitted by Thomas Lee Scribner

Records indicate that William Scribner, Charles father, was born on April 29, 1821, in Liberty Township, Delaware County, Ohio.  William married Susan Sophia Newberry some time around 1847, and had 8 children. Their names were Wallace, George, Viola, Minerva, John, Thomas Harvey, Charles, and Jacob.

The information that our family has collected indicates that 3 of William's sons decided to move their families westward. Thomas Harvey, and his two brothers; George and Charles, took their families towards the Indian Territory.

Charles married Frances Wilcox, and later Eleanor Martin.

Charles  moved his family west. It seems likely but remains unknown whether Charles and his brother Thomas Harvey moved their families west together or if they even lived near one another in the Indian Territory of Oklahoma. Charles was known to have made his living farming and as a house carpenter. Charles and his wife Eleanor are known to have returned to Ohio by 1920 where they are recorded in the 1920 and 1930 census as living in Florence Township, Erie County.
