Delmar Dean Scribner
 

Delmar Dean Scribner, 75, of Diamond, Missouri, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2007, at his home following a year long illness. He was one of 7 children born of Floyd Scribner and Beulah (Davis) Scribner.  Dean is survived by his 5 brothers and one sister; Michael Scribner and wife, Margie, Carl Junction, Missouri, Frank Scribner, Joplin, Missouri, Darrell Scribner and wife, Carol, of Diamond,

Missouri, Cecil Scribner and wife, Carol, Joplin, Missouri, Curtis Scribner, Duenweg, Missouri, and Connie Day and husband, Thom, Arnold, Missouri.

 

He was a lifelong resident of the Joplin, Missouri, area. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. After his discharge, Dean earned his living as a baker at the Safeway Bakery in Joplin. He worked there for 38 years until his retirement. He was a member of Confectionary Bakery Union.

 

He married Miss Vera Lamon Sapp on December 3, 1964. They lived in Diamond, Missouri, raising their daughter and grandchildren there.

 

He was a Christian and instilled those values in his family. Dean was an active and respected member of the Diamond Grove Christian Church.

 

He was devoted to his family and leaves his wife Vera, his daughter Teresa, and four grandchildren; Cameron Levi, Chelsea Renee, Cory Michael, and Colton Dean. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Edward Scribner; his parents; and a half brother, Edward "Pat" Scribner. 

 

He was truly loved by family and friends and we will always carry his memory within our hearts.

 

Services were held Tuesday, March 13, at 2 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Missouri. The minister Phil Lockhart officiated. His daughter Teresa and granddaughter Chelsea sang at the service. Other singers included Dean's sister Connie with her son Chris Day. The

pallbearers were Eric Lown, Marty Scribner, Trevor Devins, Christopher Day, Cameron Scribner, and Bill Dardenne. Dean's grandson, Colton Walstead, escorted the pallbearers.

 

Dean was buried beside his son, Lawrence, in the Sterling Cemetery. The cemetery is located northeast of Duenweg in Atlas, Jasper County, Missouri.
