Card
Number: 13
TO: Mr. O. L. Dale, Yale, OK
FROM: Hurney (Isom Hurney
Sanders)
Postmarked: Lincoln, Ark, Dec. 199, 1908
Correspondence and notations: Hello Oliver. Phone to Benton and tell
him to tell Fred to meet me at Yale Tuesday the 29.
Hurney Tell him to drive my team to the
buggie."
Comments: From one account, Benton Wilson was one of the
first in the area to have a phone. Oliver Dale must have had one
too, and it was common to pass important messages via phone links
that existed. Note that this card was posted the day
before Hurney was married to Mary Leanna (May) Snodgrass. Hurney and
May were married in Fayetteville, Arkansas, not far from
Lincoln. The Snodgrass family was probably living in Lincoln. |
